I.B.Tauris is to publish a timely new non-fiction book on the relationship between Islamist and far-right extremism.

Written by terrorism and extremism researcher Julia Ebner, The Rage is an explosive and critical must-read for anyone wishing to understand the full nature of the terror threat in the West, the publisher said. Based on new research and undercover interviews with both Islamist and far-right extremist groups, the book explores how their rhetoric, goals and tactics overlap and interact with each other.

World rights were acquired by Joanna Godfrey, senior editor at I.B.Tauris. Godfrey said: "Over the last few years we have seen an increased use of violence by both Islamist and far-right groups but to date no one has sufficiently looked at the parallels between the two movements. Julia’s book will bring those parallels to light based on exclusive access and balanced, undercover research."

Ebner added: "The goal of terrorists is to drive our communities apart so that our societies end up destroying themselves from within. In recent years, they have been alarmingly successful at instilling fear, anger and hatred in Western democracies. The simultaneous rise of Islamist and far-right extremism risks to turn terrorists’ desire to spark a global civil war between Muslims and non-Muslims into a self-fulfilling prophecy. This book will shed light on the drivers and consequences of this dynamic, giving full attention to both Islamist and far-right extremism."

The Rage: The Vicious Circle of Islamist and Far Right Extremism will be published in October 2017 by I.B.Tauris, priced at £11.99. There will be launch events in London, Washington D.C and New York.
